Modifying Conservation Practices

Practice Codes 300AA through 799ZZ can be edited or deleted in the CPS application by the National Practice Data Steward.

Practice Codes 0 through 299ZZ, Practice Codes 800-999ZZ, and Practice Codes AAAAA through ZZZZZ (excluding state practice codes) can be edited or deleted in the CPS application by the National Activity Data Steward.

External (Non-NRCS) Practice Codes AL200-WY299 can be edited or deleted in the CPS application by the State Data Steward for their respective state. The first two characters of the Practice Code represent the State Abbreviation.

Editing a conservation practice

From the Practices Screen,

Highlight a practice to select it.
Click Revise Practice or Replace Practice.

Not all fields are editable in both circumstances. Data that can be changed will appear as bold text while data that cannot be edited will appear as gray text.
Revise Practice changes an existing conservation practice.
Replace Practice creates a new practice that will replace the existing conservation practice selected in normal 1.
A replaced practice becomes inactive.

Modify the fields as necessary.
Save, Publish, or Cancel.

Deleting a conservation practice

From the Practices Screen,

Highlight the practice to be deleted.
Press Delete Practice button.
Enter a valid deletion date.
Press Save.

Publishing a conservation practice

New practices or revisions to practices are not available to NRCS business applications until the Data Steward selects Publish.

From the Practices Screen,

Highlight a practice to select it.
Click Publish to promote a practice to the production practice table on the Activation Date.

Viewing conservation practices

The National Data Steward uses several options to view practices in the practice table.

The default display lists all conservation practices in the table sorted initially by practice name.

Clicking on a column header sorts the data in the grid by the data in that column.
